Grandparents & Family as Foster Parents

Quite often, a family member of a child may want to care for the child while he or she is in foster care. In Michigan, relatives are given priority or preference when fostering children and are required to be licensed. Relatives willing to take placement of the child must pass an initial safety assessment and be willing to work with the child’s foster care worker.
